Hello, I am a Laken, a residential real estate agent in Huntsville, Alabama. I am a single mom with two boys in college and a beautiful dog.
Outside of serving clients in real estate and solely supporting and mentoring two sons off at college, I manage a short-term rental property on Lake Guntersville, do loads of home DIY projects, painting and decor, and work in as much frisbee throwing with my border collie as I can.
I have a passion for real estate that began when I purchased my first home, which was ten homes ago now. My realtor taught me how to spot potential for sweat equity in a home. She showed me multiple items to check, and after pulling back that carpet to reveal beautiful hardwood oak floors in my old brick ranch home, I was hooked! I proceeded to do several renovations and I rented out each spare room which covered my mortgage payment. The profits from that home sale later helped me pay cash for my SUV “baby mobile,” a car that would eventually become my son’s when he turned 16. From that home, I proceeded to buy home after home that I could do fairly simple renovation work to build equity. Eventually, I was doing full remodels like that I recently completed on my current Huntsville home.
Given my experience buying and selling many personal homes throughout each stage of life including as a young single woman, married without kids, married with kids, divorced, and most recently as an empty nester, as well as in assisting clients through the process, I feel I am uniquely qualified to help all types of home sellers and buyers. I have a special passion to help single mothers or anyone going through the divorce process, to ensure you land soundly on your feet with this next move.
