I am Laken Veach, a residential real estate agent in Huntsville, Alabama. I grew up in Alabama a little south of Huntsville as the daughter to the local orthopedic surgeon and his wife, formerly a nurse, but since I was born, a beloved philanthropist. I attended Vanderbilt University studying economics and then obtained my Master’s Degree in Marketing.

I worked in Atlanta as a market research analyst on projects for Coca-Cola and McDonald’s before disappearing, by choice, to Aspen, Colorado after a ski trip, unwilling to leave behind my new found passion for snowboarding. I worked as the local computer girl in town until I moved to Denver and became a website developer. It was there that I found my real estate mentor, Gina, at an open house and developed my passion for home ownership and investment. Gina helped me buy my first home as a single woman. She showed me the multitude of items to look for when seeking “sweat equity” potential, and after pulling back the carpet in my older brick ranch home, revealing beautiful hardwood oak floors, I was hooked! That home is 10 homes ago now.

I proceeded to learn how to paint and to make all the right renovations to add value. I rented out each spare bedroom which covered my mortgage payment and helped me build equity. From that home, I proceeded to buy home after home that I could do simple renovations to build equity, learning more each time. Eventually, I was doing full remodels like I recently completed on my Huntsville home.

Given my skills in website development and digital marketing, I helped my REALTOR start her own brokerage and it was then that I decided to obtain my real estate license. My experience buying and selling as a single woman, a married woman with kids, a newly divorced woman, as a single mother, and now as an empty nester, helps me serve clients through various stages of life as I have been there.

I moved to Huntsville to be closer to my family and to manage our family short-term rental on the lake while I tackle the hot Huntsville real estate market. Outside of serving clients in real estate and supporting two sons off at college, I manage a short-term rental property on Lake Guntersville, do loads of home DIY projects,painting and decor, and work in as much frisbee throwing with my border collie as I can.
